One of my biggest pet hates is people who preach that they’re being “real” by not being kind to other people (or even by being cruel), and that those who are kind by nature are always “fake”.
I don’t understand this, and it would be a sad place if everyone thought that way and therefore never gave freely of kindness and compassion. Claiming kindness is fake never excuses nasty behaviour - it just shows up the perpetrator even further.
Kindness and compassion aren’t “fake”, just as nastiness and false superiorority aren’t ”real”. They’re just pathetic.
